Bolognese Files for 41st VA House Seat
SPRINGFIELD, VA (March 24, 2009) – Kerry Bolognese of West Springfield announced today that he has filed all the necessary forms for his candidacy to be official to secure a position on the ballot for the Virginia House of Delegates from the 41st district. “State rules provide that the earliest a candidate can file for a primary for the General Assembly is noon, March 24, and at noon March 24, I filed,” Bolognese said.
Bolognese noted that since announcing his candidacy back in mid-February, he has walked many neighborhoods meeting with people and collecting signatures on the petitions necessary to qualify as a candidate. “The reaction has been very positive and I am very encouraged. People in the Burke-Springfield area simply want common sense solutions to their every day problems,” Bolognese explained.
“I have knocked on hundreds of doors and spoke with many, many concerned citizens. They are worried about their jobs and their futures,” Bolognese said. “We need policies that welcome business development, private investment and economic growth in Virginia. We also need to keep more transportation dollars in Northern Virginia, and to make sure Virginia’s institutions of higher education remain the best in the country and accessible to Northern Virginians. ”
Bolognese has worked for a public higher education association for the past 16 years and has also worked for 13 years on Capitol Hill, 9 of which included service on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he specialized in international organizations and international human rights issues.
“I am absolutely committed to this race, which is why I wanted to file as early as possible,” Bolognese concluded.
