Vicki’s understanding of public service began as a child. Her father, Ron Peralta, served nearly 20 years as Tribal Chairman of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians. As Chairman, he continually championed education to raise the academic achievement of Indian children. It was this message that inspired Vicki to become a leader in education. For more than 25 years, Vicki led education reform and energy initiatives for the U.S. Department of Education under five Presidents and the U.S. Department of Energy. Vicki has been a resident of the Northern Virginia/metropolitan region for over 30 years. She is uniquely qualified to lead us in Richmond working for smarter schools, a healthier environment and stronger economy.
