Today is day 32 of Governor Terry McAuliffe’s Obamacare budget impasse.
Yesterday, the Governor’s Democrat-controlled Senate left the Capitol without taking action on the budget passed by the House two weeks ago.
They continue to hold the budget hostage to Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion. The Governor and his allies are using Virginia’s budget, and the 8 million Virginians who depend on it, as bargaining chips.
As Majority Leader Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights) said yesterday: “Holding the budget hostage over one issue is wrong. Republicans and Democrats disagree on Obamacare. We disagree on Medicaid expansion. But we should agree on a budget. Heed the Virginia Chamber, heed the 85 localities, constitutional officers, school boards and local leaders who have said get a budget done.”
