Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights) released the following statement Tuesday evening following Ben Cline’s election to the United States House of Representatives. Cline will vacate his House of Delegates seat where he has represented the 24th District with honor and integrity for 15 years.

“Congratulations to Ben, his family, and his campaign team. While I am disappointed to lose Ben’s voice and leadership in the House of Delegates, I know he will serve Virginia well while working in DC. Ben’s departure creates a vacancy in the 24th district, and with the House of Delegates currently in session, the power to call a special election rests with me as Speaker. I will be reviewing potential dates and making an announcement in the near future.”
