House Republican Leader Todd Gilbert issued the following statement:

“Governor Northam was correct when he said there’s no playbook for dealing with a pandemic like this. COVID-19 is a public health crisis that has precipitated an economic crisis. Balancing the two is no easy task, but essential to ensure Virginians come out of this crisis both healthy and on reasonably solid financial footing. House Republicans stand ready to assist in any way we can.

“In the meantime, I encourage Governor Northam and his team to continue their efforts to carefully balance the need to protect Virginians’ health as well as their livelihoods. I hope we can use the time we have to get creative and aggressive in combating this virus and to remain thoughtful about the need for people to provide for their families as well.”
