Earlier today, six vulnerable incumbent House Democrats were endorsed by the Future Now Fund, an organization dedicated to enacting far-left, progressive policies in the states.
One of those policies, listed on their website as late as January, was defunding police departments. It called for the reallocation of police budgets to other programs.
From the website: [Emphasis added]
“Communities are safest when all residents have access to education, jobs and opportunities to build their lives — higher education and employment levels are associated with lower crime rates. Police funding, on the other hand, has been shown to have no connection to crime rates. And police officers should be able to focus on the problems that they are trained to address, notably public safety, and free them from dealing with issues that others are more trained to handle like homelessness and substance abuse recovery.“
Democrats accepting the endorsement today were:
• Alex Askew, HD-85
• Joshua Cole, HD-28
• Nancy Guy, HD-83
• Chris Hurst, HD-12
• Roslyn Tyler, HD-75
• Schuyler VanValkenburg, HD-72
House Republican Leader Todd Gilbert issued the following statement:
“These Democrats like to pretend they haven’t been working to make life more difficult and dangerous for law enforcement and easier criminals for the past two years. But today’s endorsement makes it clear: a vote for any of these Democrats is a vote to undermine our police and make our families less safe.”
