House Republican Leader Todd Gilbert issued the following statement:

“Senator John Warner’s life cannot be summarized in a press release. It was one of service, both to our country and to our Commonwealth. When his nation called, he put on the uniform not once, but twice, serving in the US Navy and US Marine Corps in World War II and Korea. When called upon by his Commonwealth to be our voice in the US Senate, he answered the call to service again.

“Senator Warner was a true statesman who served diligently to better the lives of Virginians and Americans. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”
