Speaker-designee Todd Gilbert issued the following statement:

“The recount has reaffirmed what Election Day and canvass already told us — that A.C. Cordoza is the Delegate-elect from the 91st district, and Republicans will hold 52 seats in the House of Delegates come January.

“We will continue to work with the outgoing Democratic majority for a timely transition so as to be prepared to work on day one. The session begins in a little over a month, and Virginians expect us to be ready to work the moment the gavel drops.

“Congratulations to A.C. Cordoza, and once again, I welcome him to the House Republican Caucus.”
