Add Your Name to Oppose Governor McAuliffe’s Reckless Executive Overreach
Tell Governor McAuliffe: We’ll see you in court
Governor Terry McAuliffe issued an executive order granting over 200,000 convicted felons the right to vote and serve on a jury. This action defies the Constitution and commonsense.
The Governor has taken an unprecedented view of his executive powers, doing what the last two Governors concluded they lacked the authority to do — issue a blanket order restoring civil rights en masse. The Constitution does grant the Governor the authority to restore civil rights, but only on a case by case basis.
Even worse, Governor McAuliffe’s order defies common sense. In Governor McAuliffe’s justice system, the murder victim will never get to vote, but the murderer will. Convicted child rapists will be serving on juries that decide if the next child rapist should go to prison.
We’ve hired a lawyer to help us fight this executive order in court. Add your name and oppose Governor McAuliffe’s unconstitutional and dangerous executive overreach.
